STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD! HOW TO FINE-TUNE AND MARKET YOUR NICHE by Marion Gindes, PhD To be a successful coach, you have to distinguish yourself from everyone else. A specific niche can do that for you. * WHAT IS A NICHE? A niche makes you special. It can be the reason people call you and not someone else. I recently launched a website for a new niche that grew out of my work as a business consultant. It is for those clinicians and coaches who want to extend their work to the business world. You can have more than one niche at the same time. * HOW TO CREATE ‘YOUR’ NICHE I have developed a 5-step program to help people create the niche that suits them best, building on their strengths. * THE TEN QUESTIONS YOU ‘MUST’ ASK YOURSELF ABOUT YOUR NICHE Whether you have a niche or are considering one, you need to evaluate whether the niche has the right qualities for being successful, such as "#3. Does your niche have flexibility?" * DOING A PERIODIC REVIEW OF THE VITALITY OF YOUR NICHE I recommend a regular periodic review of your niche. Go over the Ten Questions again and then apply the Six Question Words: Who, What, Why, Where, When, How. The periodic review will reveal if you are getting off track. * MARKETING YOUR NICHE If no one knows what you are doing, they cannot hire you. Nine marketing tools and techniques were described, such as multi-use marketing, which is using the same item many times in different contexts. For example, I can send an article I have published to potential clients, other publications, and even include an excerpt in my email newsletter, "The Gindes Bulletin." Remember creating a successful niche is a process that takes time. You have to go through the steps and keep at it. You have to have talent, tenacity, and the right timing.
